I want to let my readers know that I’m taking a temporary hiatus (sort of). Southern Skeptic is not my full-time job, and I’m a stay-at-home dad with one son and another son on the way, so I don’t have a lot of spare time.
If I worked a regular 9-5 job, I would probably still find time to write. But in my case, I have a job that makes me more money the more time I put into it. And at this point, I think I could make significantly more without Southern Skeptic distracting me. This is why I’ve been making fewer and fewer posts. I feel like I’m being pulled in two directions.
Believe me, I would love to write for Southern Skeptic full-time instead. I have about 30 ideas for articles that I really want to write. But the fact is, there’s not much money in atheist blogging, and I need financial security for my family. I believe in the future I’ll be able to outsource most of my work so I can spend more time writing for this blog again. But in the meantime, I have a lot to do.
The reason for the “sort of” is because I’m going to continue writing the Letters to My Former Self since they don’t take very long. However, regular posts probably won’t appear more than once every month or two. I will continue sharing images on my Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ pages, but I won’t be sharing as many articles from other bloggers since I won’t have as much time to read them.
I want to thank the readers who have been so supportive. Don’t worry, I’ll be back.
